The History of Magdalene House

The first Magdalene House was founded in Nashville, Tennessee. This highly successful venture prompted the proprietors of the Noisy Oyster Restaurant to donate the first Magdalene House of Charleston in 2007. Magdalene House was formed not only to help a sub-culture of women, but to change the larger culture itself. We stand in solidarity with women who have paid a high price in order to survive. We offer them a safe, disciplined, and compassionate community supported by the gifts received from individuals and private grants. Magdalene stands as a witness to the truth that in the end, love is the most powerful force.
