How Does The Program Work

Screened applicants are invited to stay in a structured, two year program. Our goals are to offer a chance for recovery from addiction and the opportunity for safe permanent housing.

We teach improved social functioning with the skills to find legal employment at a living wage, improved physical, emotional and spiritual health, and reunification with children and family. During their stay, we provide a program of discipline and balance as well as a plan that is individualized for each women. This plan includes:
  • Medical and Dental Care
  • Therapy
  • Programs for Addiction Recovery
  • Education
  • and Employment

The Magdalene House of Charleston depends entirely upon volunteer assistance, donations, grants, and fund-raising. We are not federally or state funded. Our continuing outreach programs includes carrying the message of hope and recovery to the many women still trapped in the cycle of despair.
